Search for Common Ground’s (SFCG) International Internship Program
Search for Common Ground International Interns:
• Serve in a minimum eight week summer internship with a focus on either program learning or program support;
Program learning focuses on capturing knowledge and documenting results, best practices, and lessons learned from SFCG activities and tools.
Program support involves working with the program teams on aspects of designing and/or implementing conflict transformation projects.
• Gain exposure to peace-building field operations and apply academic theory to practical realities on the ground;
• Experience firsthand the operations of an international NGO by engaging with local partners and staff on a daily basis; and
• Assist country directors with specific projects, including producing a strategic output to assist the country program with its work.
In 2010, SFCG expects to offer international Internships in 13 of its country program offices. The complete list of internships will not be finalized until after the application deadline but will likely include the following countries: Angola, Burundi, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, East Timor, Guinea, Indonesia, Israel/Palestine (based in Jerusalem), Kosovo, Liberia, Nepal, Rwanda, and Sierra Leone.
Internships are generally 3 months long, but may vary. Depending on the countries where they are placed, Interns will begin work between May & June 2010 and will complete their internships between August & September 2010.

Muslim Graduate Students Invited to Apply for Islamic Society of North America Fellowship Program in Nonprofit Management
Fellows will be given the opportunity to study nonprofit management, fundraising, capacity development, and other relevant subjects. These courses will be offered at the Indiana University Center on Philanthropy or other similar institutions of higher education and centers of philanthropic studies.
In addition to fulfilling university academic requirements, fellows will serve as interns in the summer or on a part-time basis during the school year with the Islamic Society of North America or another nonprofit organization approved by ISNA. During the internship, fellows will receive relevant hands-on experience that they can carry to any nonprofit institution.
An important component of the HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal ISNA Fellowship Program will be a service-based project in addition to the academic and institutional training that fellows will receive. This project will be related to work performed during the internship.
The program will provide each of the ten participating fellows with a scholarship award of up to $11,000 per year for tuition and a stipend of $1,000 per month for nine months.
Muslim graduate students pursuing a degree in nonprofit management, philanthropy, or other related fields are eligible for the fellowship. Applicants must have graduated from a college or university (with a B.A./B.S. or graduate degree) within a year of the application deadline, or be currently enrolled as a graduate student; and must have U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency.
PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY
* Fellows will be required to participate in a 5 day orientation and training in May, 2010.
* In addition to a full-time academic schedule, fellows must be able to complete an internship with a local non-profit organization.
* Fellows must be enrolled in a qualifying Master’s degree program by Fall semester, 2010, (preference will be given to applicants enrolled at Indiana University programs in non-profit studies or philanthropy).
* Applicants will submit 2 letters of recommendation along with their application and essay.

Atlas Corps Fellowship Opportunity
Atlas Service Corps seeks nonprofit leaders from around the world to apply for their 2010-2011 fellowship positions in Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD and Bogota, Colombia. Expenses are paid in this prestigious fellowship program, including a living stipend, health insurance, and training. Applicants must have 3 or more years of experience in the nonprofit sector, a college degree, fluency in English (and Spanish if applying to volunteer in Colombia), and a commitment to return to their home country after one year. Internship opportunity at the Centre for Research & Education for Social Transformation (CREST) Calicut, Kerala, India
Centre for Research & Education for Social Transformation (CREST) is an autonomous institution under Government of Kerala involved with research and educational programmes that are relevant for the marginalized communities of India. The Centre is taking an intern for a period of 3-4 months.
The intern will be working with a group of 40 graduates from Dalit/Adivasi and minority communities of Kerala who are undergoing Post Graduate Certificate Course for Professional Development at CREST.
Criteria for selection
• Masters degree students in reputed institutions outside India
• Excellent oral and writing communication skills in English
• Willingness to work as part of a closely integrated team
• Ability to provide small group tutorial
• Involve with the studies on a broad range of issues relevant for the Dalit and Adivasi
communities of India
• Sensitiveness to the issues concerning the socially excluded /underprivileged
communities in India
The interns are expected to:
• Assist in conducting the Post Graduate Certificate Course for Professional Development
• Prepare a short working paper on themes relevant for Dalit/ Adivasi issues
• Assist students in group projects
• Provide small group tutorials
• Provide soft skills for the students at CREST
Internships at CREST provide a unique opportunity to outstanding young scholars interested developing communities of India, particularly Kerala. International /local travel expenses should be met by the candidates. The Interns will be based in Calicut, Kerala. A monthly living allowance of approximately 120USD will be given to the interns. CREST arranges free accommodation and supervision for interns from the beginning to the end of the program. During the internship, the candidates will stay at CREST student hostel in Calicut. Interns should meet the expenses for food. In the hostel food is available at a very subsidized rate.

EarthCorps Internship cum Service Learning Program
EarthCorps offers a 6-month service learning program in Seattle, Washington, USA that brings together emerging environmental leaders to learn the fundamentals of:
- Environmental Service
- Community Building
- Leadership
EARTHCORPS CHARGES NO TUITION OR FEES for its services and in fact supplies insurance, individual homestay families, food, gear and a monthly stipend to all international participants. EarthCorps provides additional support in acquiring US J-1 Trainee visas.
EarthCorps has established the following minimum criteria to be considered for the program:

2010-2011 FELLOWSHIPS IN INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS
For recent graduates of law schools or graduate programs in journalism, international relations, area studies, or other relevant disciplines from universities worldwide.
Unrestricted Fellowships:
Alan R. and Barbara D. Finberg Fellowship - Established in memory of Alan R. and Barbara D. Finberg, early supporters of Human Rights Watch, this fellowship is open to graduates (at the Master's level) in the fields of law, journalism, international relations, or other relevant studies. Graduates with LL.B. degrees or advanced degrees in other relevant disciplines may also be considered.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Fellows work full-time for one year with Human Rights Watch in New York, Washington, D.C., or London. Fellows monitor human rights developments in various countries, conduct on-site investigations, draft reports on human rights conditions, and engage in advocacy aimed at publicizing and curtailing human rights violations. Past fellows have conducted research and advocacy on numerous different issues in countries all over the world. A few recent examples are: a project on the rights of Iraqi refugees in Syria and Lebanon; on violations of the rights of girls in juvenile custody in New York State; on corporal punishment of children in southern public schools in the US; on the rights of Bhutanese refugees in Nepal and India; on abuses against Sri Lankan migrant domestic workers; and abuses committed in the context of the Naxal conflict in Chhattisgarh state, India.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: The salary for 2010-2011 fellows will be $49,000, plus excellent employer-paid benefits.
